Five years ago, Burlington native Will Page was a junior at Western Alamance High School, interning with Steve Exum where he assisted in photo shoots and assembled picture frames in the photographer’s studio. Since that time, Page began his own business, Will Page Photography. Now he is set to graduate from UNC-Wilmington in May and could not be more pleased with the path he created for himself.
“I work a lot in the Wilmington area but operate equally as much in Elon and the Triad,” Page said.
Page and his team focus mainly on wedding photography but have recently begun expanding their horizons.
“Lately we’ve been working with a lot of videography,” he said. Page created a video set to Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” featuring folks in and around Wilmington. He also created “Happy 2,” a video for Canines for Service.
“I learned many techniques and such while we worked on the ‘Happy’ video. I’ve experimented with some amateur video work with nonprofit groups, such as Canines for Service, but this was the first time I’ve worked on any professionally. This experience is the first that has opened doors to commissioned video-based jobs, such as the wedding video on the blog linked to my website.”
In 2015 alone, Page already has a large number of weddings booked, ranging from St. Claire Shores, Mich., to Atlanta. A lot of his advertising is through word of mouth.
“Of course I am excited and willing to go the distance to reach these weddings, but it stunned me to get those calls. It’s amazing what shooting a few specific weddings has done for my reputation as a photographer,” he said.
Page’s Wrightsville Beach remake of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” video can be found at www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7su9navhTg, “Happy 2: Dog Days” can be found at www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoDFO9ae5iE, and his website is www.willpage photo.com/. You also can “Like” Will Page Photography on Facebook.
