ELON — Ten girls competed for the title of Miss Western Alamance High School on Nov. 14, 2013, but only one could wear the crown.
The girls competed in four different segments that all added up to a score that would determine their standing: interview, opening segment, talent and the ball gown portion.
Though all the girls gave it their all, only one girl came out with the title.
The new Miss Western 2013-14 is Arlyn Garcia. She is a model, artist, singer, actor and truly an all- around admirable person. Garcia did her own original talent of “speed painting” and was able to paint a color picture of Marilyn Monroe while positioned upside-down.
While only one girl can wear the crown, there were also three girls given the title of runner-up, and one girl given Miss Congeniality. Third runner-up was Kaitlynn Utley, second runner-up was Elizabeth Barbour, first runner-up was Blake Brown and Miss Congeniality was Kayona Obregon.
