Back-to-school events planned in Greensboro

   Two back-to-school events are planned in Greensboro next weekend.
Virginia College will hold a Back to School Event for the community from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 18, 2018, at the campus, 3740 S. Holden Road. Admission is free and will feature refreshments and candy for kids, campus tours, a photo booth, free back-to-school haircuts, face painting, ring toss, crafts, backpack and school supply giveaways while supplies last. Those 18 years old and up can enter to win gift cards.
The event is one of 62 events being held at other Virginia College, Brightwood Career Institute and Brightwood College locations throughout the 17 states. It is presented by the Virginia College parent company, Education Corporation of America.

      Heads Up For Our Youth, a 501(c)(3) organization, is holding a Back to School Rally from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 19, 2018, at the Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse, 1921 Westgate Blvd.
The event will include a Cops and Barbers Celebrity Basketball Game hosted by the legendary Joe Pope; TGK Athletics Ultimate Skills and Drills Clinic Dance Contest; youth-motivated speaker Kenny Harper; flash raffle (all prizes donated by corporate sponsors); and 50/50 raffle (50 percent will go to the winner and the other half will go to the Heads Up For Our Youth organization).
Heads Up For Our Youth provides knowledge, motivation and mentoring to underserved youth in the areas of financial literacy, career development, fitness and artistic expression.
Admission is free for school-age youth and their families.
