Studio 1′s “Broadway Bound” is a blend of Broadway tunes and showstopping dance numbers.
Director Tami Kress said she has connected genres of musical theater to give a full revue of Broadway’s best.
Highlights will include “I Hope I Get It” from “A Chorus Line”; “Fixer Upper” from “Frozen”; and “You Can’t Stop the Beat” from “Hairspray.”
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Thursday (April 11) and Friday (April 12) ; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday (April 13) and 2 p.m. Sunday (April 14) in the Sara McMillan Brown Theatre at Studio 1 inside Holly Hill Mall and Business Center, 309 Huffman Mill Rd., Burlington.
“I love ‘Broadway Bound’ because we get to perform songs and styles we don’t usually get to perform” said Sydney Pereira, one of the performers highlighted in songs such as “The Charleston” and “Voulez-Vous.”
One of these styles described by Pereira is featured in the intense tap combo, “The Jam,” choreographed by Alicia Curtis.
“My favorite part of ‘Broadway Bound ‘is seeing different directors and choreographers and their point of views about how to become a better performer,” said Natalie Clark, who dances in a number of songs and is featured as Mulan in “I’ll Make a Man Out of You”.
Morgan Smith is featured in the comedic number, “We’ve Got to Clean Out the Freezer,” from “Nunsense.”
“I’m so thankful for the friendships ‘Broadway Bound’ has given me and how I’ve been able to get close with so many different people,” Smith said.
