RALEIGH — The scent of fried goodies (ranging from burgers to sweets) permeated the air at the N.C. State Fairgrounds on Thursday night, which was opening night for the 148th annual N.C. State Fair.
The parking lots and street corners were flooded with people of all ages hoping to get a quick taste of all the fair has to offer this year. Small children snacked on ice cream while happy couples dared to ride some pretty intense rides that seemed to soar above the clouds and then dip down to daring proportions.
The fair has some interesting attractions this year, including a romantic walk-through of the gardens and pieces created by hopefuls attempting to win competitions in different events through their gardening expertise.    There are also some new fried delicacies prominent at the fair including deep-fried Pop-Tarts®, deep-fried s’mores, and anything wrapped in bacon you can imagine.
The State Fair will continue through Sunday, Oct. 25. With different concerts, flying canines and acrobatics taking place nightly, this year’s fair is better than ever.
Tickets for adults are $10 at the door and children under the age of 5 are admitted for free.
