Fit tips: Your mom was right – eat those veggies!

n Editor’s note: Teens & 20s writer Logan A. White, also a dancer, will provide some simple get fit tips this month.

Beach season is drawing ever closer - are you ready to show off the fit, toned you? If you’re not quite at your prime fitness level, use these quick and easy tips to get into summer shape.

n Balance your diet: Yes, this does mean you have to eat your veggies. At least one veggie per meal is a good start, plus lots of lean protein, whole grains and plenty of fruit. It’s better to eat a nourishing, healthy meal than to binge on junk food, but the occasional splurge is OK.

n Get your heart pumping: Cardio is one of the best ways to get fit. It builds stamina, burns fat and raises your metabolism. Any activity that is moderately exhausting: biking, jogging, dancing, swimming, even jumping rope counts as cardio.
