Make your own popsicles this Fourth of July

Caitlin Durham / Times-News correspondent

When the temperature  skyrockets, there is no better way to cool down than by enjoying a homemade treat. And who doesn’t like to make popsicles on hot summer days? This Fourth of July, I recommend grabbing some friends to make these delicious popsicles and celebrate America’s Independence Day.

Homemade popsicles

1 cup cranberry juice
1 cup lemonade
1 cup blue Gatorade (your favorite flavor)
8 popsicle sticks
8 3-ounce plastic cups

Evenly divide cranberry juice among cups and freeze for one hour. Take cups from freezer and stand the popsicle stick up in the center of the cup. Pour lemonade in cups to create a second layer and freeze for two hours. Use the Gatorade to make a third layer and then freeze for three hours. Makes 8 popsicles. Slide the ice pop from the cup and enjoy.
