Miss Southern High pageant is Thursday

GRAHAM — The 49th annual Miss Southern pageant will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011, in the L.M. Adcock Auditorium, 631 Southern High School Road. Advance tickets are available from any contestant for $8 each and will be on sale in the Media Center, too. Tickets will be $10 at the door.

Whitney Shaw

Devonna Whitehead

Kyle Michelle Minder, daughter of Dr. Joe and Paula Minder, will sing “Your Hands.” Kyle is active in DREAM team and cheerleading and plans to attend a four-year university.

 Devonna Monique Whitehead, daughter of Andrea Ingram, will sing “And I am Telling You”. Devonna is active in the fine arts program and plans to attend North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

Ashton Gurley

 Ashton Brooke Gurley, daughter  of Kurt  and Denise Gurley, will perform an original choreographed dance to “Where in Heaven.” Ashton is active in the fine arts department and cheerleading. She plans to major in communications.

Brittany Nicole Alderman, daughter of Fred and Dawn Alderman, will perform and original song written by her father called “Cookie Cutter.”Brittany is active in the fine arts department and Key Club. She aspires to be a dentist.

Karla Eve Allen, daughter of Greg and Paula Allen, will perform an original dance solo to “Dream.” Karla attended Governor’s School and serves as co-president of the dance club. She plans to attend theUniversity ofNorth Carolina at Chapel Hill to pursue a medical career.

Whitney Renee Shaw, daughter of Allen and Tracy Shaw, will sing “The House that Built Me/” Whitney serves as co-captain of the Lady Patriots volleyball team. She hopes to pursue a nursing degree.

Rachel Thomas

Jamie Lee Barbuto, daughter of Anthony and Linda Barbuto, will perform a lyrical ballad to “Over the Rainbow.” Jamie serves as co-president of the dance club. She hopes to attend theUniversity ofNorth Carolina atChapel Hill.

Traci Michelle Sink, daughter of Jeff and Teresa Sink, will sing “Break Away.” Traci is a section leader in band and chorus. She hopes to pursue a degree in music.

Rachel Diana Thomas, daughter of Bryant and Beth Thomas, will perform a modern dance to “My Immortal.” Rachel plans to pursue a health career.
