Tenijah Renée Fant, 18, believes in natural beauty.
She graduated from an Urban Farm School in Forsyth County, where she studied agriculture.
Her beauty and skin care line, Hajinét Beauty, is 100 percent natural and cruelty-free. The line includes shampoos, body washes, charcoal and coffee scrubs and lash and brow moisturizers.
“A lot of the chemical-based products are really heavy and leave a buildup,” she said. “I wanted to make something that’s gentle enough for a baby, and strong enough for an adult.”
Her new line, branded “Own Your Beautiful” was made with all races in mind.
Hajinét Beauty launched online on Jan. 10. Fant hopes that her products will be used in salons and spas across the country and eventually, the world.
“I wanted to do things differently. The industry is so saturated with the same things. I look at the different health issues people suffer with, and I use that to help make products,” she said.
Growing up, Tenijah wanted to do hair. Once she started studying agriculture, she combined her love of farming and beauty, and launched her own beauty line, which she began selling at the farmers market.
When asked how the brand name came about, Tenijah pointed out that it’s simply her name spelled backward. She had originally wanted to go with “Red Barn” but the name was already taken. She spoke about wanting her brand to stand out against the competition.
“Embrace who you are and how you look. Know that you’re naturally beautiful,” she said.
