Police Explorers’ open house set for Tuesday


   The Burlington Police Department will hold a Police Explorers Open House from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Emergency Operations Center of the Burlington Police Department, 267 W. Front St., Burlington.
The Burlington Police Explorer Post 4095 was established in 1970 under Chief Alfred Garner and is overseen by the Boy Scouts of America, Old North State Council, under the Learning for Life section. Police Explorers are looking for males and females between the ages of 14 and 20 (who have completed the eighth-grade) and maintain a “C” average or better in school and have no history of criminal offenses.
   Hands-on activities relating to police work, including building searches, traffic stops and mock traffic crashes are offered. Meetings are from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month and are typically held at the police department. Annual dues are $25. For more information, contact Cpl.
