April’s Student of the Month Samantha Ross is compassionate, caring and bright. She is a senior at Western Alamance High School and is involved in many volunteer projects.

Samantha is the daughter of Eddie and Debra Ross of Elon and she has an older brother, Matthew, who is graduating from North Carolina State University this May. She is the granddaughter of Andy and Worda Brown of Whitsett and Bobby and Annie Lou Ross of Elon.

“She has been a teen volunteer with Alamance Regional Medical Center since age 13. She also assists with public relations with several of their community events, including screenings, the Baby Fair and others,” said Debra Ross when nominating her daughter for Student of the Month.

Samantha also is a member of the National Honor Society and is involved with volunteer work there, along with Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) in which they raised funds for Little Pink Houses of Hope and Christmas Cheer of Alamance County. And she was honored for Awards For Excellence on Thursday night in Burlington.

She does all of this while maintaining good grades and being very helpful to others.

“She runs like a little bee all the time. She is a wonderful young woman who cares about people, volunteers a lot and works part-time at both the Food Lion in Glen Raven and Glen Raven Mills. She is just a good all-around student,” her mom added.

Samantha was accepted at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in the fall and will pursue a degree in nursing.
