Taylor Jeffries named Miss Western Alamance High School on Nov. 20, 2012. / Photo submitted

Taylor Alexis Jeffries was crowned Miss Western Alamance High School on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012.
   Taylor performed a jazz/tap combination to “All That Jazz” from the hit musical “Chicago.” She plans to attend a four-year university to pursue a nursing degree and will go on to pursue a master’s in Midwifery. She is a member of Amber’s House of Dance All Stars competition, captain of WesternAlamance High School’s Dance Team, National Honor Society, DREAM Team, Civinettes, Spanish Club, HOSA and is currently in the top 10 of her graduating class. She also volunteers with Special Olympics and the Allied Churches’ Homeless Shelter. She is a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Burlington, where she serves as a youth usher and helps with the hospitality ministry.
   She is the daughter of Tyrone and Anita Jeffries and siblings include Macy Jeffries and Brandon “BJ” Carter. She is the granddaughter of Betty Jeffries and the late Archie Jeffries and Inez Bigelow and the late Bobby Bigelow.
   Arlyn Garcia received first runner-up; Blake Brown was second runner-up and Carmen Gilliam was third runner-up. Meredith Joyce was named Miss Congeniality.
