Colonial Living Week 2017: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, Alamance Battleground State Historic Site, 5803 South N.C. 62, Burlington. $2 suggested donation per child. Historical interpreters demonstrate period cooking, cidermaking and blacksmithing. 12:40 p.m. daily cannon firing. Reservations required for large groups. North Carolina State Fair: 3 p.m. Thursday until Oct. 22. Fairgrounds are 1025 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh. Tickets: $10, adults; $5 for children; free for ages 5 and under and 65 and over. $6 with a valid military ID. Buy tickets at the gate or online at ncstatefair.org.
