Every year on the Wednesday before Halloween, Burlington Assembly of God’s U-Turn Student Ministries puts on a short film mixed with live theater to show and send a message to people about life after death.
The film this year is about a young, rebellious teenager (played by Luisa Loyoza) and her foster sister (played by Alexxus Bailey) who is trying to turn her in the right direction. One day Luisa goes to a party only to never return home. Alexxus finds her by the poolside drunk and passed out. As Alexxus tries to wake Luisa up to come home, both end up falling in the pool, unable to swim and eventually end up drowning. In the live theater performance, you witness the “funeral” and see the perspectives of the two characters, one of which is in Heaven while the other went to Hell.
“This happens in real life, and the whole purpose of this is to make people think of eternity and the consequences of their actions,” said Robert Harrison, the youth pastor of U-turn Student Ministries.
This year, the film will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Burlington Assembly of God, 821 Tucker St., Burlington.
